2007 Wellpride American Eventing Championships

Dr2EW-4519%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPGAbsolut competed in the Preliminary Horse Championships against talented horses from around the country. The two and a half day haul from San Antonio to Chicago was well worth it as he finished with clear jumping in both cross country and ever so challenging stadium. His dressage was marred by peaking early in the long warm up so some movements, while obedient, were not as fluid and flowing as I would have liked. The competiton was difficult with Darren Chiacha and Clark Montgomery scoring in the twenty's. Absolut was in the mid forties. At the completion of the open and galloping, then sprinkled with compression questions cross country we were clear moving up to 28th with 3.9 time penalties as a result from an over eager rear in the start box which botched the start at ' Go!'. However, he will have a handler next horse trial to settle and hold him. He loves cross country! 4XCFK-5541%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPG He was spot on for every question and brilliant in his open gallops. I could not be more pleased. Stadium was maxed out and challenging and changed the placings fairly dramatically on Sunday. Absolut was strong, yet he went double clear and we moved up to finish in 25th place. The atmosphere was riveting and the crowds were huge. The USEA has done a remarkable job of building the AEC's into a national event not to be missed. The cross country course was adequately roped off and the crowd's were bulging against the ropes. I heard from friends across the country who listened to our stadium round in the live feed streaming in real time. What an awesome addition to a fabulous, difficult and exciting experience! 4StC1L-6000%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPG 4StC1L-6007%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPGDr2EW-4555%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPGDr2EW-4583%20AEC%20Sep%202007.JPG

Stone Creek Ranch is SOLD !

Leslie%20028.jpg While we are very excited about our move it is with sadness that we leave this four acres of horsey heaven and beautiful memories. We have bought acerage on Plantation Road in beautiful Madison, Georgia in Morgan County!DSC04102.JPG We have a mixture of open pasture and beautiful hardwoods just five miles from historic Madison and roughly twenty three miles from the University of Georgia right off of Highway 441. DSC04104.JPG We closed Monday, March 3rd and have started fencing the paddocks, clearing the under brush and finding the barn and house sight. In the meantime I will be teaching out of Starlight Farm in Covington, Georgia. Please contact Brenda, the farm manager, for lessons or clinic inquiries. We are very excited about this new chapter, meeting new friends and competing in new venues. Our Area V friends are our heart. It is so hard to leave and we will miss them terribly. Actually,we have collectively decided Stone Creek Farm in Madison will be the eastern extension of Stone Creek Ranch in San Antonio. So, my clients will be regular visitors which will be the most fun! It is not an end, but a new beginning! So, stay tuned. Some cross country fences were on the moving van...my husband was not too thrilled. Also, our stadium jumps came too. Who cares about furniture! Thank you to the best real estate agent, and now friend in the world. Jeanne DuFort in Madison with Prudential. Her daughter Johanna competed through Advanced and she helped me in my search for a new farm. She is wonderful, dedicated and thorough! We begin on the barn next week and will live on site in the living quarters there as the house is being built. As soon as it is done I owe her a lovely dinner complete with a good bottle of wine! We did do well looking for property, but may have missed a turn here or there immersed in eventing! Thank you, Jeanne, for everything.
